Helping families form a brighter future
Teenagers helping the NYC low-income community recover from the pandemic
Our Mission
We are a student founded and run 501(c)(3) nonprofit helping the NYC low-income community recover from the impact of Covid-19.
Poverty isn’t uncommon in NYC. In 2019, 56% of children in NYC lived in low-income families.
We create and donate:
School supplies kits
Hygiene kits
New and gently used clothing
to NYC families through distributions at low-income schools and other institutions serving them. We help underserved families. They know that they are seen and respected and they’re not alone. Support Forming Futures today.
Our Story
Hello! My name is Victoria, and I’m a senior attending high school in the Upper West Side of NYC. From a young age, I’ve always realized how privileged I am, and it saddens me to see children lacking basic necessities, a problem which has been exacerbated by Covid.
In 2020 when my friend Sandra Garcia Medrano, who is a public school teacher, told me that one of her students was sharing a notebook with his older brother because his family couldn’t afford to buy two notebooks, I felt that I had to do something about it. So, in response, I founded Forming Futures to help low-income families in New York City recover financially and emotionally from Covid.

Preparing the Kits
We seek product donations, close outs, and price discounts.
Once we have enough supplies, we hold a covid-19 safe packaging event where volunteers assemble our school supplies kits and hygiene essentials kits.
We add a personal touch with a handwritten note in each kit.
